I caught the Mahjong bug nearly two years ago—and there was no turning back! I have been teaching for the past year and a half, helping new players go from “Wait…what’s a bam?” to confidently calling “MAHJONG!” My lessons are equal parts learning, laughing, and a little friendly competition. I love making Mahjong feel fun, approachable, and anything but intimidating. Come for the tiles, stay for the laughs, and leave ready to plan your next Mahjong night!

Love teaching students and watching them open the NMJL card for the first time to hearing them yell “Mahjong!”

When I started playing Mah Jong, I immediately fell in love with both the game and the community. I want everyone to leave a lesson able to decode the card, comfortable with a little friendly competition and excited to come to more events!

Hi, I'm Jaime, a former K-12 classroom teacher turned mahjong instructor! As a teacher, I love making sure everyone feels confident and comfortable learning something new and challenging. Everyone can be successful learning mahjong and have a blast while doing it. As a teacher AND a player, the most unexpected bonus of mahjong has been finding a community of amazing people from all different walks of life with a shared love of fun. I'm the Managing Director of The Mahjong Society, where I keep things running behind the scenes, from planning events to building partnerships and everything in between! I've played mahjong on and off since I was a kid, but really got back into it over the last couple of years.

Hi, I'm Anne! I teach American Mahjong in Chicago and on the North Shore. My lessons are welcoming, hands-on, and full of laughs mixed with some friendly competition. Whether you're picking up your first tiles or you're an experienced player ready to dig into strategy, grab a seat, bring your friends, and leave ready to host your own Mahjong night!

I am an enthusiastic, experienced American Mahjong instructor serving all of Chicagoland. The Mahjong Society will bring everything you need to learn the game. I teach all ages, including children, and I am available for private and corporate events. My lessons are patient and fun, and my goal is for everyone to love mahjong as much as I do. My five children and my friends and family all play, so I know how much joy this game brings to a table. I hope to see you around your table soon!
